up and down

first time in the history of my career, did i ever scold a student like today.

i really do hope and wish best things to my students, be it a boy or a girl, rich or poor, smart or slow learner.
i do hope they are learning things, everyday that they come to school. i mean sure, if they get high marks in exams, that'd a bonus for me. but seriously, i do want them to learn, to gain knowledge and to be able to  hold on to it.

people are built with different abilities... some are smart, others are not really dumb, some learn very fast, and some might not be the brightest. but the most important thing is that you have it in you to learn things, to really understand something and give reasons should someone ask you about it.

my dream is, not just teach, i want to educate this children... to make them want to learn things... to make they understand things better. but this isn't a one way street. both parties should be involved. i can't be the only one that does all the work. well it doesn't really work that way.

i remember my mum always said, you can bring a horse to the river, but you can't make it drink the water.

so, in my effort to bring these 'horses' to the river, there's always ups and downs that i have to deal with.

but my goodness, this one stubborn horse! there's more downs than ups with this one horse. wait, that's not entirely true. ups and downs can be equivalent at times. what is up? my bp, that is.

talking to this one 'horse' (well, more like yelling) [yep, that's right, i'm only human, my patience does have its limit], i should really play my part well, the intonation, when to stress matters, straight tone and what not.

bang! boom! kababoom!  yeah, fire away. and then i should talk slowly, you know, to knock some sense into it. well, i did try, but unfortunately it pushed the wrong button.

tak nak jadi pandai ke? - nak
hah, kalau nak pandai kena buat apa? - usaha

sekarang dah nak akhir tahun dah, sampai bila awak nak macam ni? - ..........
bila nak berubah? - tahun depan ( temp terus melonjak naik - ringan rasa tangan menyinggah di pipi)
bila nak berubah? - akhir tahun
bila nak berubah? - ............
bila awak nak berubah? - minggu depan ( hmmm, tangan masih lagi ringan... it's almost there, keep on guessing man!)
bila nak berubah? - esok
habis tu, hari ni nak buat apa? goyang kaki?
bila nak berubah? - .............
bila nak berubah? - sekarang (syabas inspector sahab!  we're getting there)
nak berubah macam mana? - .................
apa bukti yang awak betul-betul nak berubah? - ..................
apa yang awak kena buat? -usaha ( favourite answer so far)
usaha yang macam mana? - menulis
tulis apa? - hmm, kalau macam cikgu ada bagi kerja sekolah, kena siapkan
cikgu ada bagi kerja sekolah tak? - ada
dah siap ke belum? - belum
hah! tunggu apa lagi???!!
